Predictor@home is censoring massively at their boards and is restricting the freedom of opinion of their registered users in an inappropriate manner. After a discussion had started about the attitude of the project administration towards a big cheating issue in this thread that thread was closed immediately to avoid any different opinion. After that any new discussion thread and any question concerning \"censorship\" were \"answered\" with the immediate deletion of the postings/threads. Even accounts were fully blocked for posting (in my case until the year 2038!!). I think it is not acceptable that the freedom of opinion is restricted in that way and I want to ask the BOINC community members to form an opinion about this. Try for yourself and start asking about this all at the P@H message boards! In between even account creation was disabled to prevent the \"bad users\" from posting further questions. After that didn\'t help meanwhile whole IP ranges are blocked from access to the complete Predictor homepage! There\'s an ongoing discussion over at the BOINCstats forum, where also the beginning of this whole mess is to be found. See: Trojan boinc installation by rogue member |

Hi ThEfT, welcome to the forum. Could I ask everyone to post anything at all about Wat* and the current problem at Predictor in the same thread as before so we all know what everybody\'s saying: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=5314 One of us will probably move this post to there to keep all the discussion together. Hope you don\'t mind. Cpdn news |

Hi Inais, If you look at the link that mo.v posted above, you\'ll see that it was her who posted the first notice :-) (Saenger\'s was a copy of hers). My understanding is that the admin at Predictor@Home had originally missed all the news about Wate. Since Predictor@home has now been informed of the details behind the trojan account and is acting to block it, posts relating to Predictor@home should henceforth be made at the Predictor@home project and relevant teams rather than CPDN. I think you need a RAC of 1 in order to post at Predictor. |

I have had to delete George Rothfuss\'s post which contained a copy of his post that I deleted yesterday. May I remind members that if a post is deleted, you may not repost it. Here is the rest of what George said: In Message 27473 mo.v states: Could I ask everyone to post anything at all about Wat* and the current problem at Predictor in the same thread as before so we all know what everybody\'s saying: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=5314 and yet in that thread mo.v states: \"This thread is for discussion of W*** and the trojan.\" ------------------------------------------------------------ That thread is in the Number crunching Credit, leaderboards, CPU performance Forum. Massive Censorship at Predictor Boards! is in the Cafe CPDN Trade stories with other climateprediction.net Users Forum. ------------------------------------------------------------ Many people appear to be very confused-- not the least of whom is mo.v. My reply to George. When I asked for all discussion to be continued on the \'Trojan\' thread, I did not realise that there would be such a big problem about deletions and bannings on the Predictor forum. Nor did I realise that the problem would last for so long. I am aware that I have said that discussion of these deletions and bannings is not appropriate on the \'Trojan\' thread. I consider the \'treatment of posts and members on PAH\' to be a separate problem and not part of the \'W*** + trojan\' problem. I agree with Mike that discussion of the PAH problem should be carried out on that forum if possible. Mr Braun will read your posts there. He is unlikely to read them here. Cpdn news |

Hi Inais, Thank you MikeMarsUK and Saenger about your info for the RAC at PAH. Yesterday mine was 4 and today now 3 - and befor this all was happend - I have had no problem to post anything. So for me it look like there must have been a change and a restriction on Sunday and came up after the \"Good bye\" tread was created. |

Message to Dagorath who\'s probably watching this thread. It\'s completely irrelevant to this thread, sorry. Dagorath, I wonder whether you could please edit and improve an entry in the BBC/cpdn READMEs where one of your posts has recently been added. If you register on the php forum http://www.climateprediction.net/board/index.php I can give you the details by private message, after which this post can be deleted as irrelevant to the thread. Personally, I\'m sick to the back teeth of hearing about the predictor fiasco. I don\'t crunch for predictor and doubt if I ever will. The whole thing seems to have just degenerated into a schoolyard name calling session which has nothing to do with CPDN. As Mike said: Since Predictor@home has now been informed of the details behind the trojan account and is acting to block it, posts relating to Predictor@home should henceforth be made at the Predictor@home project and relevant teams rather than CPDN. I think you need a RAC of 1 in order to post at Predictor. I agree 100% with Mike _________________________________ |

Message to Dagorath who\'s probably watching this thread. It\'s completely irrelevant to this thread, sorry. I don\'t have a clue what you\'re talking about when you say \"BBC/cpdn READMEs\". The link you provided does nothing for me except show me an index. I don\'t feel like searching through a thousand or so threads even when I know what I\'m looking for. And when I haven\'t a clue what I\'m looking for, well, I feel even less motivated. Maybe you think you\'ve cleverley stealthed whatever point you\'re trying to make but as far as I am concerned you\'re taking nonsense. Please be more specific about what you need me to do and where the thing that I\'m supposed to do it to lives. But I\'m not interested in any wild goose chase you\'ve designed for me. |

Mike added, as part of a new link in one of the READMEs, a thread where one of your posts gave some really useful advice. It would, however, be better if the instructions were properly edited by you and not part of a previous thread. Of course I don\'t expect you to trawl through hundreds of threads. It\'s item #8 in the README about avoiding crashes, about the CMOS system clock. This item needs a proper edit. My previous post should have said which item it was. If you\'re prepared to improve this README item, we need to be able to discuss what would be a small but worthwhile job. I can\'t get in touch with you, so you would need to get in touch with me or make yourself contactable. I suggested you could register on the cpdn php forum http://www.climateprediction.net/board/index.php?sid=7cdbe6449bafb2fcc342a48affc77bf9 which would mean I could send you a private message about this. Or else just click on my name there and email me. (I think you can do this even if you haven\'t registered.) The section about the READMEs is in my sig. Cpdn news |
