I\'ve never heard of Free DC before now.
If they have a problem, them you\'ll need to talk to them.

Well here is your page, I\'ll let them know. Their team is 52nd and has done 17 mil for you guys. There is the introduction.

http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=proj&proj=bcpdn

It stopped right after the issue with points.

Here is one that is working ( just to see )

http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=proj&proj=abc

Once my points were corrected this page stopped updating. I\'m just trying to offer what I see, not trying to pass blame. Patrick

The Free-DC project status page still thinks that the CPDN project is down - which is clearly false, otherwise we wouldn\'t be posting on this message board! Their system may have been confused by the changes Milo had to make to get the CPDN server status page to work at a reasonable speed, but that seems to be looking OK now.

With regard to updating statistics - this is the way it works:

Every BOINC project, CPDN included, produces a list of every user, every host, and every team known to that project. Those lists are updated periodically - usually once or twice a day - and are available for anyone and everyone to download. You can collect a copy yourself, if you like.

And that\'s where the project responsibility ends. The list has been produced, it\'s available for download. The next stage is up to each individual public or team stats-monitoring site: they are free to collect the data at any time, and process/display it as they wish. In this case, it looks as if Free-DC hasn\'t started collecting again, so Les is absolutely right to say that a polite word in their ear would be the best course of action.

Because every stats site works off the same exported data, a check of two or three sites is always worth doing if there seems to be a problem. If every site is outdated, then there\'s probably a project export problem: but if most sites are up-to-date (allowing for slight variations in timing), and only one is out of line, then it\'s definitely a problem with that individual stats site.

Thanks for the info, I just checked and it is functioning now. This really was about awareness and not an attack. I left DC a message also so whoever fixed it, thanks. Patrick

I was just informed about this post here as I run and maintain the Free-DC stats site.

I\'m not sure where the problem is occurring but a number of the stats sites are having issues downloading the CPDN xml files. We all keep getting timeouts during the transfers, so I\'d guess it\'s a bandwidth problem somewhere along the line.

One suggestions was to alter our scripts to try to take this into account and do some resuming, which is doable, though not simple.

I\'ve had 5 replies from other stats sites saying they have the same problem with CPDN.. Not heard from Willy at Boincstats, perhaps he does something different. I altered my userAgent to have a 2 minute timeout, but it\'s still not helping. wget seems to work ok eventually, given there is no timeout at all.

Is there anything that can be checked on this end ?

We were told yesterday that BoincSynergy wasn\'t managing to import the complete CPDN export. And I think my CPDN credits were missing on BoincStats a couple of days ago. I\'m informing Milo.

Thanks for letting us know.

We\'re not yet sure of the cause of this. The server seems OK and so I wonder if there might be something going on on the network, which I will be investigating.

Thanks for looking into the situation, We did get a complete update yesterday (BOINC Synergy), but it seems most stat sites are being effected occasionally. Problem has been only with cpdn that started sometime in mid August I believe.

This is quite possibly a network issue. I brought this up a couple weeks ago on the other forum.

May well have been a firewall issue, I worked with Milo this morning on some tests and with a few firewall tweaks the downloads worked ok, though slowly.

Hopefully it\'s resolved now but we\'ll not for a few days.

Well, Bok, I think you\'ve done us all a service there. This board is much better than it has been for a while - the truncations seem to have stopped.

Hear, Hear. At last I can read the News and Announcements thread again! Well done, Bok.
