I've got a couple of warning from our Antivirus program (Bitdefender) today related to downloaded files. The downloaded files had Trojan.Generic.1175 in them, and were deleted. Probably you could check that. |

Unless you give us some identification details - ideally the exact names of the executable files involved, but if they aren't available, the names of the climate model types you were downloading - it's very hard to anybody to check anything. Most commonly, a 'generic' warning relates to an executable file which the anti-virus company in question hasn't seen being downloaded very often. There are public tools - the best known being https://www.virustotal.com/ - which can check a reported file against a number (typically ~50) of independent AV products, to give you a better overview of the potential problem. Have a look at the earlier thread Checksum Errors, where we worked through some specific examples. |

Hi Andreas, these are false positives, probably because a small portion of code in the exe files matches a piece of code that is seen as suspicious by the virus checker. It is discussed in this thread. As well as the one Richard links to. |
