I paid out some GRC to climateprediction.net users the last couple of weeks. I was always wondering, how to obtain this user stats XML files directly from climateprediction.net (Last update user XML 2021-09-23 12:40:28 UTC (5 days 09:04:14 old)).
I would highly appreciate, if anyone might help/guide me to obtain the files. Please PM me.
So, I will not have to copy past it from boincstats.com and might semi-automate pay-outs.
Thanks a lot!

The credit script only runs weekly so five days old isn't a big issue as far as I can see. I used to know the address of the page that boincstats gets their data from on CPDN but have forgotten though I suspect it is on the forums here somewhere.

I would expect that to be http://cpdn.org/stats/, but I get a 'forbidden' response from it. Subsequent to GDPR, some projects have applied an 'authorised users only' filter on their stats download url (by pre-approved IP address only), to prevent phishing expeditions or plain users' curiosity gaining access.

Or it could be a network bug. Or a typo.

Ta. Why no automatic redirect? On second thoughts, we'd better not ask the Engineering Department IT support team that.

Anyway, with the 's' in place, you can see when the stats export was last created:

db_dump.xml	2021-09-23 14:40
The new one should have arrived eight minutes ago. Any bets?

You lose the bet. While they should auto update daily and reflect changes whenever credit is actually run and posted this daily script either gets hung or does not auto generate after system work so until someone intervenes nothing happens.

Message 64537 - Posted: 30 Sep 2021, 14:25:34 UTC - in response to Message 64536.

I remember discussing this point with an admin, about two staff rotations ago. I seem to remember that the conclusions we came to were:

1) the script which turned trickles into credits ran as a "cron job" - it started (in those days) at the same time each day, every 24 hours, regardless of what had happened in between.
2) the script which exported the resultant values - which is a standard part of the BOINC server suite - runs on an "interval timer", and in CPDN's case (then) ran 24 hours after the server was last restarted, and every 24 hours thereafter.

You can see that there's scope for the gap between 'cron job' and 'interval timer' to vary if emergency maintenance becomes necessary, and sometimes it became too short for the 'trickle' script to finish before the export started. And that resulted in distorted stats exports.

This isn't a problem for most BOINC projects, because they update credits dynamically - no intermediate trickles to worry about. I'm sure the new staff CPDN team(s) will have found a new solution, but I would expect it to be automatic, not manual.

Bill F, send me the right links! Thanks! For my purposes (Pay-out of some GRC), there is no problem if it is not up-dated every day. It is even better, it is only every week;-) I do it by hand on spreadsheets...

Export time stamps on BOINCStat;s as of now.....

Last update user XML 2021-09-23 12:40:28 UTC (5 days 09:04:14 old)
Last update host XML 2021-09-23 12:40:28 UTC (5 days 09:04:14 old)
Last update team XML 2021-09-23 12:40:28 UTC (5 days 09:04:14 old)

Can you please bump those above with an email again.

Thanks
Bill F

And now... the Export Time Stamps are 9 days old instead of 5 days old...

Last update user XML 2021-09-23 12:40:28 UTC (9 days 03:19:19 old)
Last update host XML 2021-09-23 12:40:28 UTC (9 days 03:19:19 old)
Last update team XML 2021-09-23 12:40:28 UTC (9 days 03:19:19 old)

Please bump an email up the ladder ... the time stamps on these files should increment daily even if the Credit script runs every 7 days.

Thanks
Bill F
