I've been getting this error for the past 3 or 4 days. This machine is a Pentium 4, with 256MB RAM (less 32MB shared video) running WINME. BOINC is running CP & Seti@home on this machine, concurrent with Classic SETI. It doesn't seem to affect anything, so I've just been letting it run. I've got 4 machines running CP (2-XP, 1-ME and 1-Mandrake Linux), and this is the only one that throws the error. I'm going to continue to let it run without rebooting as long as possible, if you need to see a file or something. Thanks! <IMG SRC="http://members.cox.net/apo-des/Fortran.GIF"> |

Unfortunately the Climate Prediction client will not run on the WIn98/Win ME/ platforms. Win 2000 and up is required. |

> Unfortunately the Climate Prediction client will not run on the WIn98/Win ME/ > platforms. > > Win 2000 and up is required. > I hate to be the one to spoil the party, but in a recent email from Carl Christensen we were advised that support for Windows Me, 98 and NT4 had now been resolved: [start quote] Hello, Forgive the email, but in case you were trying to run climateprediction.net on a Win98, WinME, or Win NT4 machine and did not have success, we have identified and corrected a bug in the Fortran code that was preventing older operating systems from being able to run. So if you "Reset", or "Detach" and re-"Attach" to climateprediction.net using your CPDN/BOINC authenticator key, it should get this new version (4.04) of Windows code that will run fine on 98/ME/NT4. If you have any problems, or if you want to report success (or failure) please do not hesitate to contact myself or Tolu Aina (tolu@atm.ox.ac.uk) via email. Sincerely, Carl Christensen Chief Software Architect climateprediction.net [/end quote] This means that these problems should not occur. I have been seeing the same problems, but assumed that is was because I have not installed the MS .Net framework onto that machine (or had the incorrect version) I am still testing this theory. I have seen a few corrupted files on this Windows Me machine which are not BOINC or CPDN related, and am still trying to pin down the cause and what they affect, but will post with results. I can confirm no problems on my NT4 machine as of yet. Dave Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire — William Butler Yeats |
