OK, I\'m really not an expert, but I believe in this project. The earlier version seemed so much more friendly and trouble free. Now when I open BOINC and go to the \"Work\" tab, only one process is running. I\'ve done a program restart, I\'ve done a PC restart, I\'ve shut everything down, waited, then powered up. BOINC still shows only one process active even though for months I have had 2 running. I am running a P4 processor with Hyper-threading enabled, I have 1GB PC2700 Ram, no Seti or any other \'screensaver\' active. What gives? |

In your "General Preferences", I assume you have 1. On multiprocessors, use at most 2 processors 2. And that you have plenty of disk space allocated. If you've been running for months, then you must have completed projects, which leave ~300 mb of zipped model files in your BOINC directory for each completed model run, plus quite a bit for each running model. If you are too restrictive on your disk space, it may not download a new model for one of the processors. 3. Otherwise, are you sure your BIOS has the setting for HT enabled? If you updated your BIOS or cleared CMOS, I suppose it would be possible that it defaults to non-HT? Number 2 would seem to be the most likely culprit though. |
