I had a power outage last night so my computer went off well when I restarted my computer Climate had downloaded another set of data and started over. This is not the first time it has done this. Is there a setting I am missing? I mean computers sometimes crash and so everytime they do am I going to have to start over with Climite? Seti does not do this as far as I can tell. Please let me know if there is something I can do! |

This seems to be a BOINC problem, and it is reported that there should be a fix (or at least a partial one) in the next release. It does affect other projects but matter less with small WUs. The only advice at present is to take regular backups, especially if you are likely to suffer power outages. |

I had such a problem with Seti Classic already - but it happened only on FAT file system, never on NTFS. So although FAT is slightly faster and NTFS is accessible only from certain operating systems (only important on complete system crashes), NTFS is better for applications that run all the time. edit: Just in case, you could put a small batch file to your "autostart", that copies all XML files from the BOINC base directory to a backup location somewhere else on your HD. |
