Hi, I\'ve lost all my *.xml files cause my brother has tried to hack my computer (long story). Is there a possibility to downloat or recover this files for resuming my project which is still aviable in the BOINC\\projects\\climateprediction.net folder?

client_state file is pretty crucial. I think you might be able to get away with
installing another instance of BOINC over the existing one & then give your brother hell

So it seems that I've lost 35 years of virtual weather. My brother hacked in by using the ASP.NET user account. When he logged in BOINC started automaticly and overrided the client_state.xml file with new project data. And by recovering my old project without reading first what's the matter with client_state.xml and other *.xml files I started a new project aggain and this ovverrides client_state_prev.xml the backup copy of client_state.xml. Now I run BOINC as a service. This should provide that this wouldn't happen again.

I thought that Windows XP ist pretty shure. Now I must search the net how to close my computer for my brother. It is a great pity that I couldn't finish my project. Somebody else will do this, I hope. Now I start a new one and hope I will send the finish results.

sorry to hear of your problem. It may be easier to get rid of your brother than to make Windows secure! ;-)

Only if you've checked that there are no shortcuts to boinc_gui lurking in the startup folders for all users or individual users :)
