I just noticed they are \"officially\" on 4.12 -- if anyone has been having troubles with CPDN you may want to try the newer BOINC version and see if that helps? http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/download.php |

I've upgraded both my desktop and laptop just before lunch and it went without a glitch. Both machines (Win2K Pro SP4) are happily crunching CPDN.... :-) Here are replies to the question I asked in the SETI forum about whether v. 4.12 was working well with CPDN http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=5508 <img src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/cpdn/stats.php?userID=322&team=off"><img src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/seti2/stats.php?userID=1442&team=off"> |

when I tried it again using the above procedure it worked! To bad I did not know about it before I lost all my work! Thanks for the info though!!! Disregard:I have upgraded both of my machines, one is a Win2k with SP4 and one is a XP home with SP2. The new 4.12 ver did not work on either of them. It ran benchmarks then came up with program not responding errors. Back up your work before you upgrade so you don't lose 300hrs of work!! |

> The new 4.12 ver did not work on either of them. It ran benchmarks then came > up with program not responding errors. There is a problem with v4.12 under certain conditions. If: 1.) You are using separate prefs for work, school and/or home 2.) The <b>Switch between applications every</b> is not set (or 0) for these prefs 3.) You have changed primary prefs under general prefs, without changing separate prefs 4.) You have not already performed the fix below on another BOINC project Then the upgrade to v4.12 will likely hang after benchmarking. The Fix: Description of problem: The <b>Switch between applications every</b> appears to be initially unset for separate prefs, while set to 60 in primary prefs. If you upgrade to 4.12, the unset value (or 0) will override the primary pref 60 and your system will appear to freeze. Fixes: If you are technically proficient, you can edit the global_prefs.xml file and insert a value greater than 0 between {cpu_scheduling_period_minutes}{/cpu_scheduling_period_minutes} for your venues. If you are not comfortable doing this, then there are two alternative options, depending on your present client. 1.) Client V4.12 You must downgrade to v4.09 Edit your general preferences, changing <b>Switch between applications every</b> in separate preferences to a value greater than 0. 60 is recommended. Issue a project update and ensure that latest preferences are downloaded to your system. Upgrade to 4.12 2.) Client V4.09 (current download on CPDN) Edit your general preferences, changing <b>Switch between applications every</b> in separate preferences to a value greater than 0. 60 is recommended. Issue a project update and ensure that latest preferences are downloaded to your system. Upgrade to 4.12 |

I downloaded and installed boinc 4.12 which then hung up during benchmarking. I therefore returned to version 4.09, but all the CPDN workunits disappeared from the boinc interface and boinc downloaded new workunits. The old ones are still on the boinc program directory. Is there any way to recover the old workunits to boinc? Thanks for your help, Harri |
