You´ll know those benchmarks:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--- - 2004-10-16 13:31:52 - Running CPU benchmarks
--- - 2004-10-16 13:31:52 - Suspending computation and network activity - running CPU benchmarks
--- - 2004-10-16 13:32:54 - Benchmark results:
--- - 2004-10-16 13:32:54 - Number of CPUs: 1
--- - 2004-10-16 13:32:54 - 1707 double precision MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU
--- - 2004-10-16 13:32:54 - 4467 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU
--- - 2004-10-16 13:32:54 - Finished CPU benchmarks
--- - 2004-10-16 13:32:55 - Resuming computation and network activity
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can I disable them in any way? They make my comp extremely sluggish, and that will of course (Murphy´s Law ;)) always happen when I least need it to be. I can´t even scroll a browser window properly then, let be any other more demanding application.

And they don´t seem to be of any use btw...

They are used to calculated your "claimed credit" in other BOINC projects. You can't disable them but you could run them manually at a time of your choosing. Maybe that will delay the automatic ones.

They will run automatically every 5 days, however the execution time is normally only 10 to 15 seconds.
If the system is under heavy load, then perhaps they will run longer, but surely not for so long that it affects your ability to use the system...

If it really is executing for an extended period, then there is possibly a problem.
