When I look at clouds in the visualisation, there is a green disc over the north pole. It\'s much worse when the star field is on. Also, if you zoom in on the globe, it comes in front of the window text. |

Hi, I don't see this, can you send/post a screen shot? |

Similar problem here, except the disc is red and it's a lot bigger with the star field off! Observed on all 4 models running on 2 * Windows 2000 Professional SP4. Sorry, Carl, but there's no image capture software on the systems. |

How do you turn off the star field? |

> You can use the print screen button and then past in an image editor! Doh!!! Can only generate BMP, so I'll email the images to Carl rather than post them here. |

<img src="http://cpdn.tuxie.org/mikeymoss/Mikey_CPDN_BOINC_Beta_North_Pole_20040805.GIF"> Something different. Has anybody else noticed that CPU time is almost halted when interacting (I.E. changing/toggling the display) with the Show Graphics function. |

And it is pretty normal. 50% of your cpu goes to the visualization. Since boinc uses cpu time to calculate credits, it looks at how much % he gets of the full cpu. So if it only gets 50% the cpu time will raise 1 second/2seconds is real time! |

hmmm, interesting screenshots! someone sent me one where it's red instead of green. I'm going to forward to Tolu who did the bulk of the OpenGL vis. I don't know if it's some odd hardware/software glitch or what! |

I have a gray one. Here is the south pole... <img src="http://jerome.goy.free.fr/BOINC/cpdn-view.jpg"><br /> And yes, the globe goes in front of the text. Better the opposite. Other remarks/questions/problems : - the '0' option does not work when hit on the keypad - what is the 'headlight' option ? It lights the clouds, but what for ? - there is no day/night alternance, unlike CPDN visualisation. - on my opinion, the help prompt is not easy to see/use. Wouldn't it be better to print all options permanently on screen (even if it masks the globe) and hide it after another hit on 'h' key ? Appart from this, the visualisation is great... I love the "smooth temperature" mode on a stary sky, and the borders between the states. Great job ! |

Just a thought... I had a similar problem in CPView because I calculated the red/green/blue values separately and my maths was a bit off. Because the bits are packed as BGR instead of RGB, it means that if you get a -1 for blue or green, it shifts down and becomes a 255 for green or red respectively. a -1 for red just gets lost. That would explain why we've only seen red and green circles but no blue. Isn't the grey one just the snow/ice at the south pole? |
