I already have BOINC working properly on my linux box, but I would like to have an OpenBSD server. I compiled BOINC 4.11 as per the instructions, and I connect it to the server, but I get the following messages: 2004-10-21 11:44:07 [---] Starting BOINC client version 4.11 for i386-unknown-openbsd3.5 2004-10-21 11:44:07 [climateprediction.net] Project prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults 2004-10-21 11:44:07 [climateprediction.net] Host ID is 59484 2004-10-21 11:44:07 [---] No general preferences found - using BOINC defaults 2004-10-21 11:44:07 [---] Insufficient work; requesting more 2004-10-21 11:44:09 [---] Insufficient work; requesting more 2004-10-21 11:44:09 [climateprediction.net] Requesting 16474 seconds of work 2004-10-21 11:44:09 [climateprediction.net] Sending request to scheduler: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi 2004-10-21 11:44:09 [climateprediction.net] Scheduler RPC to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi succeeded 2004-10-21 11:44:09 [climateprediction.net] Message from server: platform \'i386-unknown-openbsd3.5\' not found 2004-10-21 11:44:09 [climateprediction.net] Project prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults 2004-10-21 11:44:09 [climateprediction.net] No work from project 2004-10-21 11:44:09 [climateprediction.net] No work from project 2004-10-21 11:44:09 [climateprediction.net] Deferring communication with project for 1 minutes and 0 seconds 2004-10-21 11:44:09 [climateprediction.net] Deferring communication with project for 1 minutes and 0 seconds How can I get it to do work? |

The source code isn't available to recompile. I believe that is why you need to have Linux emulation. But someone can correct me if that's wrong. |

Same problem as Akira here; running OpenBSD 3.6. Can't get the Linux version to run either, it bails out instantly: ./boinc_4.09_i686-pc-linux-gnu Abort trap (ie, SIGABRT -- game over) If climateprediction.net only supports GNU/Linux-x86, MacOSX and Winblows, why do they suggest we recompile BOINC for our platform? It also tricked me into thinking this project was open-source, I feel like my time was wasted here... |
