Some work appears to have completed because new files were downloaded, but the total work units value is still 0? |

Your account shows that no trickles have been reported (there are 72 per WU). This indicates that the WUs are failing at an early stage. |

Several SETI and 1 climate have progressed to 100% and then they dissapear, and a new one is downloaded. I would not think they would do this if they were failing at an early stage. |

A CPDN workunit would take a couple of months or more to complete running 24/7 on your machine. The fact that it is running SETI successfully doesn't tell you anything; climate modelling is a much more computer intensive application, and there are a number of things that might be going wrong. Your BOINC message window will be providing some information about why the WU is terminated - can you say what that is? |

The SETI values are not updating either. What in the message window would indicate failure? > The SETI values are not updating either. What in the message window would > indicate failure? CPDN saves your work every 144 timesteps - equivalent to every three model days. At the moment, when it clears the memory on switching to another project the work you have done since the last save point is lost, and on a slow machine that could represent a good few minutes' work. The advice is to change your general preferences (in My Account) to leave applications in memory while preempted. That will mean that you should be able to pick up your work where you left off, provided that you have enough room in memory to cope with all the different applications you run. The other reason you are seeing little progress in either CPDN or SETI is probably that you are using one fairly slow machine for several tasks. You will still earn the credit eventually, but for any one project it will take that much longer. CPDN will give you the credit once you reach the trickle points. |
