I\'d like to run a CP model in a P4 on WIN XP that doesn\'t have internet our any network access. At this moment I run a CP model on a laptop with internet access and would like to download a model and then transfer it to the other PC. I use to do this with Seti@home without any problem (just copy the WU associated files ...).
Is this possible with BOINC? What are the procedures to be taken in starting the model on the second PC and re-transfering it to the laptop so that the result might be uploaded to the server?

Well I know for SETI@H that if you do that you would not get any credit, because it is a anti-cheating thing. Not sure if CPDN has it's backend setup the same......
Sorry for the duplicate post lolol

I might not have been too clear: the aim is processing a model (or a WU in S@H) in a computer that isn't connected to the internet, not duplicating a processing result. I've been doing this with S@H for a couple of months and it works fine. The same WU is processed only once so there is no cheating scheme associated...

If you have been doing this with SETI under BOINC, then what works for SETI ought to work for CPDN. It is accepted that that in CPDN, where WUs take so long, there are plenty of legitimate reasons for transferring WUs between computers, so there are no validation checks on this. I wonder, though, whether you mean that you have been running classic S@H, which is rather different.

I'm not clear whether what you want to do is to use the laptop only for the communication at the beginning and end of a run, and the desktop to do the processing. If so, it is just a matter of copying the files - the only snag is that CPDN creates an enormous amount of data, and so I suggest a cable or wireless link between the machines is the only practicable solution. Copying the entire BOINC folder may be easiest if you do.

I don't think it is possible for both machines to run separate CPDN models under BOINC, though. You could do it by running a classic model on the non internet connected machine, and a BOINC one on the other. Try the community forum for advice if you want to do anything like that.
