I\'m part way through a work unit. I downloaded the v4.13 client, exited BOINC, installed the v4.13 client and restarted BOINC. It appeared to restart the work unit. After closing down and restarting the machine, BOINC download and started on a new work unit.

How do I clear the new/old work unit

This sounds like you got bitten by a bug in CPDN. If BOINC tries to suspend CPDN before CPDN is completely started (which almost always happens with the version update bencmarks if another project is not active) it corrupts the workunit and will get a new one.

Sadly, there's nothing you can do to recover a lost WU.

Funny, because when I upgraded from 4.09 to 4.13 with the same procedure you used it just restarted where it had left off.

I was almost finished with 1 WU and another was ½ done - is there really nothing you can do ? - it is alot of cpu time wasted then...

Hi, Bikerman welcome to the Forum.

Not after the fact. Gone is gone, but you don't lose credits already earned. The run(s) will eventually be recycled to someone else. (Completion rate is not good -- one in eight Work Units sent out.)

Over time, some have posted that restoration from a backup saved their work, with re-run from their "save point".

If you take backups, copy the entire CPDNboinc folder and stop your runs before doing it (else things could get out of sync. -- guaranteeing an error if that backup is used). Also, it saves re-crunching a few minutes of work if you stop at a Checkpoint -- done every three Model-days (144 Time Steps); optimum point is 0030 on day 1/4/7/10/etc. of each Month.

If you run more than one Project, restoring from backup could create issues which I'm not competent to address (I run only CPDN).

Thanx for the reply, I'll probably just let it download a new WU and get it going again then
