Hello. I'm using BOINC version 4.13 on a WinXP machine. What settings to I need to do to make BOINC function only as a screensaver? Thank you. |

Go to Your account, General preferences then select edit preferences. Choose to have BOINC running only when idle and choose your preferred delay. To co-ordinate with your screensaver you will need to refer to your Windows settings (right-click on the Windows desktop). Choose BOINC as the screensaver here. Note however that CPDN graphics are quite processor intensive; it's not worth running CPDN as a screensaver at all with some older graphics cards, but you could always try updating the drivers. If you are worried about getting credits or doing as much work for CPDN as you can forget the screensaver and only look at the graphics when you want to. |

Andrew, Thank you for your suggestion -- I appreciate it. To avoid the potential performance issues with the graphics, I've changed the BOINC screensaver settings to the following: 1) I've put a check mark in the "Go to blank screen" box and 2) I've entered a zero in the "Minutes until blank" field I've also "sync'd" the start of the screensaver to match the preferred delay settings in BOINC. Again, thanks for getting back to me. R |
