On one of my PCs, I had two instances of hadsm3 4.03 running. When I switched my PC on today, BOINC (v4.13) seems to have forgotten about both, and has downloaded a new model and hadsm3 4.04. In addition, it seems to have left hundreds of megs of data from the old models lying around on my drive. Also, on another of my PCs, this update seems to have taken place without leaving a whole lot of old data lying around, but on both machines, in the \BOINC\Projects\Climateprediction.net folder, there are a number of .zip and .exe files relating to hadsm3 4.03 still lying around. Which of these files is it safe to delete without disturbing current work? |

You can delete the project folder for each of the incomplete models. As to why this happened, it seems that the process of shutting down or restarting BOINC crashed both models. Was the computer perhaps switched off without shutting down? In any case, 4.13 should be less prone to this behaviour, but it seems it isn't completely proof against it. Try suspending the model (in the BOINC file menu) before shutting down as an added precaution. |
