I have Following problem: My client just finished his last computations of his 1st cp phase and I was really looking forward to enter phase 2. But BOINC decided to produce some error and to load a new workunit. WHY!!!! I want to finish my old one first. Is there any way to go back and start with phase 2 again? Will this happen with any new work unit? I'm using BOINC Gui 4.13 |

There is a dependency between phases ( and success of ). The processing which takes place at the end of each phase can sometimes fail. e.g due to hardware errors. You can run some hardware tests on your machine.to determine if this is the case. This thread provides some info. on where this is available. http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=2126 |

There is a thread somewhere about heat problems in portable computers which run for extended periods. One person said that the heat had cracked the wooden desk under his machine. It was recommended that a gap be created under the PC, and I think it was also recommended that the back be a bit higher than the front to let the heat escape. A small desk fan placed to blow air under it might also help. CP is like a marathon, rather than the 100 yards dash. Unfit athletes (computers), aren't going to make it. Les Backups: Here |
