I just installed attached to the CP project and in doing so it paused my S@H work unit currently running. I have it set up such that each project uses 50% of my CPU. Does anyone have an idea as to why this happened? I am using my laptop, it is a 2.0 GH P4 running XP Home Edition w/ 256 MB RAM.

The way BOINC shares between projects is to give some time to each, rather than trying to run them both at the same time. So it suspends one whilst it runs the other, then switches back.

A couple of points.

1. Over time it will be give equal time to each project, but initially it may give more time to CPDN whilst it catches up.

2. If you can you should set preferences so that the application suspends to memory, as it avoids wasting processing time in CPDN. In your case this may not work well if you are also using the computer for other things because of limited memory, but will be beneficial during idle periods.

Of course, if you are now finding that both projects are paused, then all is not well!
