I just noticed the globe in the BOINC climatepredictor screensaver go completely white (except for outlines of continents, etc.) for a while before returning to a more normal set of colors. Is this a known bug in the screensaver or did the model freeze the world down to 0 degrees K for a while?

It is an artifact of the way the graphics are generated. The data is only updated every so often to save CPU cycles. If you happen to restart the display in between updates it will display the blank globe until the next data update. I think it was decided that this was not a big enough problem to fix or the fix would be worse than the problem.
