Recently one of my computers successfully finished a work unit and I received an extra 8000 credits. As I understand this happened before I was curious about this happening again.

There is a bug, that they didn't truly fix, that sometimes grants extra credit at the end of the run. However, the workaround was that every four hours, total credits are recalculated from your true results, so the bonus credits go away in your total credits. However, the recent average credits may not be fixed.
