I'm on vacation and have a bit of trouble getting connected to the internet when it's convenient for CPDN. Is there something I can change in one of the XML files that will tell CPDN it's ok to connect now intead of waiting for the full 4+ days it thinks is necessary? Thanks! C ... assuming that you are running CPDN under BOINC .. You can force an update by rightclicking the "climateprediction.net" entry on the Projects tab and selecting "update". |

Chilcotin: Sorry, I'm running a Mac, so I'm running command line - no GUI. Should have mentioned that earlier... C <img src="http://teamstats.macnn.com/multisig/sigs/UID=c/sig.php"></a> <br><a href="http://team.macnn.com">Join Team MacNN</a> |

After I've done the start with '-update_prefs', the Linux BOINC V4.13 client __still__ continues the "Deferring communication for 4 days ..." countdown. mikus . |

The only way to get past the delay with linux (I'm not sure if this applies to other os's too) is to edit the client_state.xml file and then do a manual update. To do this, you need to shut down the client, open the client_state.xml file with a text editor and find the line (50 to 55 lines down from the top) that references min_rpc_time. Change the number that appears on the line (between the min_rpc_time and the /min_rpc_time) to zero. save the changes and then restart the client with the -update_prefs flag. This will clear any long waits and exchange all waiting data. |
