As the thread title states, I keep on getting this message w/my results. What's wrong? Sys#1 AMD XP-M 2200+ @2.2Ghz; Shuttle AN35N Ultra400 m/b; 512Mb Kingston HyperX PC3500 DDR; ATI 9800Pro;; Sys#2 2.4c P4 @3.0GHz; Abit IC7 m/b; 1Gb Corsair XMS3200C2 v1.1 DDR; GeForce4 Ti4200 |

We never tested on that, it's possible it's incompatible. Is there something else running on that machine that could be causing a conflict? It could be some oddity with the 4.02 boinc client as most of the errors seem to be in launching our app rather than in executing our app. |

I still got some errors, and found my memory tweaked a little too high, which under normal circumstances, work fine, but not w/BOINC apparently. So far, so good. Won't know for sure until I have crunched some numbers. [...] Check out your system with Memtest86 and also the GIMPS prime torture test. They will pick up errors that are a problem but that often go unnoticed... Do the checks at the max operating temperature! Good luck, Martin |

It appears to have been the memory. It was tweaked too high. Unfortuniately, I had removed Server 2003, as well as lost my original Computer ID, which was 193, and now I have two, 949 and 1027, for the same system. 949 was for my system w/Server 2003 on it, and 1027 for the same one, but w/Windows XP Pro, instead. I've got exactly the same problem I have "computing client errors" and I don't know why. see http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/workunit.php?wuid=212669 but I did not overclock my machine. The error message is not very explicit :-/ For info, I'm running MandrakeLinux 10.1 (kernel 2.6.8) Hardware : AMD Duron 1200MHz 250Mo RAM |

Exit status of -5 (0xfffffffb) is also rather cryptic. However other posts mention that this is a general catch all for computing errors. (Generally detected as negative pressure in one of the cells in your model. I am sorry I cannot be any more helpful than to suggest checking UK_Nick's hardware stickies in the PHP forum: http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=2126 http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=2124 Visit BOINC WIKI for help And join BOINC Synergy for all the news in one place. |
