I had been running the climate model successfully for about two months until my iMac G5 froze about a week and a half ago. I couldn't get it to reboot and finally cut the power. After that, I had a lot of trouble with slowness and freezes that seemed to happen for no reason. I'm running OS 10.3.6 and 512 MB of RAM. I noticed that I could not get the climate model to run even when there were no other applications open. When I opened Terminal and started BOINC I got:

I would wait for several hours but nothing would happen. I tried shutting down several times. I used Disk Utility to repair permissions. I zapped the PRAM. I ran Norton Disk Doctor from the Norton Utilities CD. It found a number of problems that I corrected. That seems to have helped the other problems but I still can't get the climate model to run. Should I download BOINC and/or the model again? I was well into Phase 2 so I hate to throw that away unless I really need to. I'd appreciate any advice you have.

If you do anything that causes a model download, you will get a new set of parameters I.E. WU.
So downloads, resets, etc are a last resort if you want to continue with your current model.
Try other ideas first. And BACKUP the ENTIRE BOINC set of folders first! E.G. right NOW!

I'm not a Mac person, so the following thoughts are a bit general.
On a Windows system, slowdowns and freezes often mean a virus. As well as a virus checker, (Avg),
I use an Advert checker, (AdAware), and an anti-spy program,(SpyBot). When I had some strange behavour,
forgotten what, (but before I installed AVG), I read about a program called HiJack This!,
so I installed it and found 5 trojans maskerading as programs of a similar name.
With them deleted, life got back to normal. Whatever that is these days!
Perhaps you can read about these to see what they do, and then look for a Mac equivalent.

WARNING: HiJack This! can be dangerous! It lists ALL programs it thinks may be a problem.
It is up to the user to check if one is a problem, or a trusted program.
(I think it listed BOINC as possibly suspect!)
