Not a big issue but I was trying to merge a computer which was reinstalled and upgraded, when in the merge Window no other host was shown to click on. I have 5 other hosts and not one was shown... Is this a site error or is this not possible anymore... Somewhere I read someting about null hosts but these hosts are all not null hosts... Thanks for any help. |

If your upgrade was a change of processor-type or OS type then the system considers it a different computer. ie you cannot merge a win98 with an xp or an intel with an amd. Hope this helps. <img src="http://www.boincstats.com/stats/teambanner.php?teamname=GasBuddy"> <img src="http://www.boincstats.com/stats/banner.php?cpid=84c0cf7846cbf28338406e54b3eb8a83"> |

Thanks Pete49, This helped me. The processor did not change, but the OS did ... --> Was win2k upgraded to XP... still It would be a nice thing to be abler to merge those results in order to avoid getting a lot of hosts in case one upgrades a lot :) |

Eventually the server will have no more data for a host that is not in use. After this happens the host can be deleted from the computer page. The problem is with the size of CPDN workunits it may take a year or longer for the data to be removed. BOINC WIKI ![]() ![]() BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

The problem > is with the size of CPDN workunits it may take a year or longer for the data > to be removed. > It's worth adding that some users would regret losing information about work done - the proportion of failures, the parameters of the models, the results where the WU has been crunched by another machine, etc. So keeping the results on the server is a plus in most respects. The situation is very different to SETI, though I know that even there some users would like to be able to view their results for longer. |
