After a power failure, BOINC 4.13 did an automatic reset:
Isn't it a stupid way to lose _a lot_ of work? I blame BOINC for not using an appropiate backup system |

Commiserations. Perhaps your wu was at a critical point when the failure occurred, such as file write. I've had two power failures due to lightning activity, both only a second or two, which caused the computer to re-boot, and a power outage of 1.5 hours, which left me in the dark. When the power was restored, my computer powered up OK, as did BOINC / CP. You may need to do a human initiated backup now and then if power failures are a "feature" in your area. Les |

As I understand, CPDN is pretty disc-intensive anyway, so there's a quite high probability of something going wrong. I wonder if anybody developing BOINC is aware of the problem... > I've had two power failures due to lightning activity, both only a second or > two, which caused the > computer to re-boot, and a power outage of 1.5 hours, which left me in the > dark. > When the power was restored, my computer powered up OK, as did BOINC / CP. The Windows machine crashed sometimes, but I never lost work. If I ever feel sadistic, I'm going to see if random pulled-the-computer-power-cord-out-of-the-socket accidents cause BOINC to reset. > You may need to do a human initiated backup now and then if power failures are > a "feature" in your area. Hindsight is 20/20 :) :( |
