Are these experiments going to take into account variability in the climates produced. In many ways this is as important as averages, 2 years drought followed by 1 year floods gives a nice average rainfall, but a climate extemely difficult to farm in and and very stressing on ecosystems. 50 years of hindcasting is not enough to capture 1 in 100 year events. Also I think that the measure used of the skill in the hindcast tends to deprecate unforced climate variability (i.e. that caused by weather), though I may be wrong on that, could someone who knows comment. ____________________________
boinc forum and United Kindom team, my climate change blog. |
