Every time it tries to contact the server I get this message: 2004-08-11 15:41:21 [climateprediction.net] SCHEDULER_REPLY::parse(): bad first tag 2004-08-11 15:41:21 [climateprediction.net] Can\'t parse scheduler reply I first noticed this behavior this morning and it\'s been repeating all day. |

And your PC is a what on a what? In other words, are you using a 386 on a 9600baud modem, or some PC somewhere at the end of a network? -------------------- Jordâ„¢ <img src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/cpdn/stats.php?userID=2&trans=off"> |

Before today, it had no issues at all communicating with the server. |

There is a little bit to less information. Mostly iot is good to see the messages around the critical message. In this case here the question is, is the rest of the operation going normal. The was a small bug in maintenance mode some time ago, which only impact the first line of the reply file. Maybe this still exists. But a empty or destroid sched_reply.xml file will give the same message. You should have a look in this file (in the BOINC folder) when the message accours again. This should give a hint. The computation is running normally, but from time to time, it stops and I have to manually restart BOINC in order to make it continue. Here are the contents of the sched_reply.xml file right after I get this message: climateprediction.net Paul Roeber 756.140023 156.099706 1091897703 756.140023 156.099704 19e8590dfd65e4cd17463636fe92f7ea a0d2ce215c7ee2c3ec8d2e839efef60d - 100 |

Paul, Unfortunately everything between the angled brackets gets stripped out on this message board. Could you please repost replacing them with {}. <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/team_display.php?teamid=3"><img src="http://www.teampicard.net/templates/fisubice/images/phpbb2_logo.jpg"></a> |

Sigh... sorry about that. I didn't check the post after I posted it. It seems like my recent credit hasn't been updated... - {scheduler_reply} {project_name}climateprediction.net{/project_name} {user_name}Paul Roeber{/user_name} {user_total_credit}756.140023{/user_total_credit} {user_expavg_credit}155.993074{/user_expavg_credit} {user_create_time}1091897703{/user_create_time} {host_total_credit}756.140023{/host_total_credit} {host_expavg_credit}155.993072{/host_expavg_credit} {host_venue /} {email_hash}19e8590dfd65e4cd17463636fe92f7ea{/email_hash} {cross_project_id}a0d2ce215c7ee2c3ec8d2e839efef60d{/cross_project_id} - {project_preferences} {resource_share}100{/resource_share} {/project_preferences} {message_ack /} {/scheduler_reply} |

> - {scheduler_reply} > - {project_preferences} Those "-" characters look like the problem. The {message_ack/} line indicates that your request went through okay. Also I'm getting {host_venue}{/host_venue} instead of {host_venue/}, which might indicate that we're trickling to different servers. As for your recent credits, the only credit I bother looking at is the total because once you've been running for a while the RAC doesn't change that much unless you add or remove a system. When you send a trickle the end of your sched_request.xml file should look something like this. {msg_from_host} {result_name}0005_000024990_0{/result_name} {time}1092367137{/time} {variety}orig{/variety} {wu}0005_000024990{/wu} {ph}1 {ts}183634{/ts} {cp}638260{/cp} {/msg_from_host} {/scheduler_request} <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/team_display.php?teamid=3"><img src="http://www.teampicard.net/templates/fisubice/images/phpbb2_logo.jpg"></a> |

I just double checked the file (it opens in IE when double clicked - that might be a problem) and the "-" seem to denote that what comes below it are children of it... The section immediately below the first "-" is indented, and when I click the "-" it collapses. This is what it looks like in Notepad: {scheduler_reply} {project_name}climateprediction.net{/project_name} {user_name}Paul Roeber{/user_name} {user_total_credit}831.754026{/user_total_credit} {user_expavg_credit}156.836057{/user_expavg_credit} {user_create_time}1091897703{/user_create_time} {host_total_credit}831.754026{/host_total_credit} {host_expavg_credit}156.836056{/host_expavg_credit} {host_venue}{/host_venue} {email_hash}19e8590dfd65e4cd17463636fe92f7ea{/email_hash} {cross_project_id}a0d2ce215c7ee2c3ec8d2e839efef60d{/cross_project_id} {project_preferences} {resource_share}100{/resource_share} {/project_preferences} {message_ack/} {/scheduler_reply} It doesn't have the "-" characters, but I am still getting the messages. Anything else I can do? |

The only other check I can think of is that cross_project_id and global_prefs_source_email_hash in sched_request.xml match the values in the reply. <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/team_display.php?teamid=3"><img src="http://www.teampicard.net/templates/fisubice/images/phpbb2_logo.jpg"></a> |

They match, although the "global_prefs_source_email_hash" shows up as "email_hash" in sched_reply.xml. The values are identical. |

This is still ocurring. Is there anything I should do to help resolve it? Also, my model stops computation a couple of times a day and the only way to force it to continue is exit BOINC and restart it. This almost always happens when some other program uses the CPU heavily for a period of time (playing a game will cause BOINC to stop processing - the hads* programs are no longer showing in the task manager). |
