I am new here. I do not understand how to start "crunching". Mind, i am a layman, not one of your scientific types.

There is a very full explanation of BOINC <a href="http://boinc-doc.net/index.php
">here</a> and also the pages on the menu to the left called 'Getting started' and 'FAQ'. But they probably tell you more than you want to know at the moment.

You have done the first thing by opening an account, and I expect that you have downloaded and installed BOINC.

1. Open the BOINC window. (If there is already a blue disk with a yellow B in it in the task bar, right click on that and select 'show' or double click).

2. Select 'settings' and 'attach to project..'

3. Use the url and account numbers you were given in the email you were sent when you registered.

4. You should get a series of messages in BOINC, various files should appear in the transfers tab, and then you should have a line in the Work tab labelled Climateprediction.net.

5. If you right click on that and select graphics you should be able to see that it is running.

If it doesn't work as described, tell us what is going wrong and we will try and help.
