Hi, today i was surfing on the pages of diferent betatest teams, and on some pages i have found links to the betatest or even to join the teams, to have an advantage when the official CPDN@Boinc will start. So now i am in conflict with myself, because i sent all my teammembers who asked me for information and had not registrated for the beta these lines of the invitation mail: Quote: \"If you do, or do not, want to be an beta tester, please keep this information private as we are not quite ready for large numbers of users on the beta test site\" But if other Teams publish these information, to get an advantage, i dont know why not to do the same. But would this be fair towards the project, because if i do so, other teams will follow and step by step the crowd of betatesters will increase and it might happen, that there arent enough Wus or that the server collpas, because \"we are not quite ready for large numbers of users on the beta test site\" ? So what would you do ? greetz Yoda p.s. I dont want to blame someone, so i wont publish any names of Teams or Teamleaders, but if you want to know them, just visit their websites/forums. p.p.s. sorry for my bad english |

Yes i recognized that too. the rechenkrfat.net team posted links to thebeta to get more members. If you do, or do not, want to be an beta tester, please keep this information private as we are not quite ready for large numbers of users on the beta test site. That was in my beta e-mail. So the beta is unofficial and only the mebers who got mail are allowed to join! |

If there's enough people signed up for testing now, the sign up page should be disabled to prevent thas mass flood of people. I've also seen the link to this project in an open area where many people can see. --- |

http://www.setigermany.de/ also has a link to the beta in open forum Maybe we can shame the admins into removing the links by posting them all here. Martin |

well we've got about 1000 people signed up, 800 or so still running, so I think we're OK (launch in 5 days anyway, need to get more BOINC scheduler servers online!) |

Will we loose our credit when we launch like SETI@Home did? Or do we get to keep it? |

> Will we loose our credit when we launch like SETI@Home did? Or do we get to > keep it? beta testers will get to keep their credit, i.e. this site will be the "public site" after 26th August |

The trick is not to let 500,000 people join up on the same day and end up "JQ'd" (old beta joke) like SSL did - that was a **really big** mistake. JSC aka Xcamel >> BOINCer since 2/2/03 |
