With the phpBB forum down for a long time, I just thought I'd bring up a reminder of this <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=140">post</a> from Martin Sykes back in August about how you can do some nice things like make hyperlinks active, and embed pictures in your post. Also, when composing a message, there is a <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/html.php">May contain HTML tags</a> link that shows how to <b>bold</b> and <i>italicize</i> text quite easily.

I know some of you know this already, but for some of the you who don't, this can make posts a little more readable and user-friendly.

Hi!
Another useful thread for the use of HTML is <a href="http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=10932">this one</a> over at the Seti crowd.

Hi geophi,

from Lorvija's post:

You may want to add target="_blank" just for other readers convinience so it opens it to new window instead of existing one.

so if you had the html for
"<a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/html.php">May contain
HTML tags</a>"
(edit I can't make it write the html it just keeps putting the link in....)

where would you put the target="_blank" to make it open in another window?

Thanks
Marj

Hmmmm...I can't seem to get it to work, it won't save the target=_blank in the code. It should be as simple as described <a href="http://www.htmlcodetutorial.com/linking/_A_TARGET_95y98y108y97y110y107y.html">here.</a>

I just discovered that there is an option in the forum preferences to open links in a new window. Tried and it works.
