I have installed BOINC, created a account but the GUI failed when a tried to connect to climateprediction.net with the following error "BOINC couldnt get main page for http://climateprediction.net. Please check the URL and try again"
Any help please...

Only have 1 idea. If you copied and pasted the URL is it possible you included leading or trailing spaces or other characters? Should end with the t of net not have a '.' after it.

No I have made sure about leading or trailing spaces.

Check that your firewall is giving boinc_gui.exe (or boinc_cli.exe if you're using the command line version) read/write access on port 80.

Access to boinc_gui.exe has been given and still get the same message "Can't connect to main page etc. Again there are definitely no spaces or dots at the beginning or the end of either the URL or the ID Key

Any further suggestions?

Welcome to the project, Mandy.

There has been a server problem for several days, which has just been fixed.
Perhaps restarting the server has upset something, so you could just try again.

But it SHOULD be straight forward. When people have had this problem before, the previous 'cure' has worked.
