Damn, Zain was just a bit faster :) Congrats!

But: Climate Prediction user/team/country stats are available at <a href="http://www.boincstats.com/hide_climate_url">BOINCstats</a>
.

The numbers from Climate Prediction are also included in the BOINC Cross project stats.

Enjoy!

Hehehe Bikkel,

Yeah, got to get up early to something or other (forget the saying)

Love your cross project stuff, I just havent had time to implement it yet.

Careful though, CPDN is CLOSED BETA, and they want to remain kind of annonymous until the developers give the ok to link to this site, even to show stats on public pages. I dont know exactly how they feel about even showing their stats on open pages (which is why I put mine on a separate page). Maybe they are fine with, but personally I dont want to step on toes.

To the developers then:

If you have any problems whatsoever with publishing the stats on BOINCstats, please let me know and I'll remove the stats for the general public. There are no links to CPDN on my site!

And to Zain:

Well, everyone that's running BOINC is already talking about Climate Prediction. At least, a few of the forums I read are filled with threads about CPDN.

One question for someone actually running BOINC4 and CPDN: what's the URL of the scheduler?

I need it to check the online/offline status of the scheduler. URL will not be posted on BOINCstats!

I assume this is the url you want:-

climateprediction.net - 2004-08-11 07:09:18 - Sending request to scheduler: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi

Yes, there are threads about it, but no URLs to the beta project page. :)

Nice stats page!

&gt; The numbers from Climate Prediction are also included in the BOINC Cross
&gt; project stats.

You write:
I'm working on the BOINC overall team stats, and as there is no cross-platform identifier for teams, I have to use the team name to find teams across projects. Two problems arise here: there may be no duplicate names in one project (or one of those teams will not be listed) and teams must have the exact same name across projects, otherwise they'll be listed as two different teams).

The answer is that the team CPID is the CPID of the owner. If a team is owned by the same person in all projects it is the same team. (at least that was the idea)
Finding out who is the owner is a problem that is going to be solved within not so long.

There should be a cpid for teams. And the owner of the team is indeed the key to this. At the moment, there is no reference in the team-XML file to the owner of the team. (But re-reading your post makes me think you know this)

It's on your climateprdiction.net preferences page.

The only problem with using the team owner is that we have one team that is spread across six projects and we now have 2 different team founders for various projects. Founder 1: Kem Jones S@H, He founded this team under classic years ago. Founder 2: Me Alpha, Beta, Predictor, Pirates, CPDN, and possibly others. We could very easily get together and set some link between the teams. This could be one of the responsibilities of the team founders in the cases where there was a mismatch like this.

Hm... the CPID system wasn't really designed to do this...I'll think about it and see if I can expand it in this area.

Suggestions are of course always welcome.

I see two possibilities. The first uses the info currently available. If either the team name or the team founder CPID is the same, they are the same team. It might also be possible to say that if the majority of the members are the same they are the same team.

The second adds a link at the project team level. The link could be a list of team CPIDs that have to be set in both places to have them be the same team. Example S@H team ID is 190, and allow Precidtor Team 56 to be the same would have to be matched in Predictor team 56 with allow S@H team 190.

A method to hand off the team to another founder would be nice. Then, if a member joins a new closed beta project, he could create the team and hand it over to the cross-project team leader when the true leader is able to join.

One could also have a method to manually assign the CPID. In the same situation as above, if the member had the CPID (given to him by the leader) he could create the team and enter the CPID during the creation.

Any time you want to find the URL for a project's scheduler, you can find it by looking at the source html of their project page. Look for the following XML (btw, this is documented in the boinc server docs):

[scheduler]http://address.of.server/whatever[/scheduler]

Of course, you need to substitute the &gt; for ] and &lt; for [

But only if you actualy run the project. I'm running SETI/Predictor on BOINC3.2, so I'm unable to run CPDN.

I tend to agree with eRAZOR here. A common instance from the OLD SETI@Home Classic message boards was people asking if they could CHANGE their team leader. The most common instance is the team leader now not available, the email not working... and NOONE hence able to edit the team information, remove inactive members etc etc.

The simple ability of changing the team leader would be very nice. Of course that would mean someone to do these things... but I am sure every project could find a trustworthy volunteer without any troubles at all.
