Hi, Im a quite new user, and I run my first project for climateprediction on on BOINC 4.13 and now you tell me there is an update 4.19. However there are no instructions, will the client be automatically updated or do I download a new version and then that version will discover I have an existing version and transfer the project I'm currently running? I have windows XP Best regards |

If there was an update to the CP client, BOINC would look after downloading that for you. (4.04 is the last public version) To change the BOINC core, a downloaded by participants is needed. It seems to be recommended to backup the BOINC folder just in case. Exit BOINC and install the new v4.19 over 4.13 (ie do not uninstall first). The model should continue from where you were. The BOINC core client must be updated manually (current version 4.19). Normally you can just install over the old version and it will pick up where it was and continue on. The science applications will update automatically when you download a model that needs a newer version. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

My previous experience v4.05 -> v4.13 killed the WU I was running at the time. If you are a significant way through your current model, I would advise you to wait until it finishes BEFORE you upgrade your core client version. <img src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/one/stats.php?userID=444&trans=off"> |
