I am running BOINC 4.13 with version 4.04 of the hadsm3um program. This crashes after anything between 30min and 3 days of execution with an unhandled exception (access violation). I have a AMD Barton 2400 + with 512Mb RAM running Windows XP (Home) SP2. Any sugestions on how I can keep the project running? Regards |

First things I would suggest are overheat, overclock or faulty RAM. Next I would look at the power supply. CPDN demands a very stable system to be successful. If you are overclocking your machine, then try running the machine at stock speed. Check the CPU temperature on a regular basis. I would suggest twice a day or so either side of the hottest times of day. Try to aim the cooling so as the CPU doesn't go above 55C. If you are running above this temperature, then installing fans in the chassis will help. My Athlon XP 1900+ CPDN cruncher is on 24/7. It has two entry fans arranged side by side at the front of the case, drawing cool air over the two HDDs, an exhaust in the side and dual adjustable exhausts in the rear. The PSU is of the dual fan type and the CPU cooler is rated for a 3000+. Along with all this, I also have a card fan to remove heat from the area around the GFX card. Normally the CPU temperature of this machine sticks stubbornly at 49C or 50C @ full CPU load. If, by chance, I catch it going above this, I just kick up the two pots at the back of the system, thus increasing the speed of the two rear exhausts. <img src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/one/stats.php?userID=444&trans=off"> |
