They certainly are bright vibrant colours. Excellent! I thought there might be some care instructions on a leaflet with the mugs. Are they dishwasher proof? Are they microwave proof? I now have 4 heavily folded climateprediction leaflets. Is it possible to obtain more of these to give away in conjunction with trying to set up a display in a library or other such public building? |

I endorse what people are saying about the mugs - better than I had expected from the photo. I don't know how many were ordered, but the shop had some in stock this afternoon when I sent my son round after extracting him from an Oxford hostelry. |

My box arrived today and I really like them. They will make excellent gifts. You want to keep watching them all the time you're drinking. The design and colours are very attractive - thanks to everyone who worked towards this product. I'll try to find out about the dishwasher/microwave question from the wowmugs website. I also like the cpdn leaflets that come with the mugs and agree that they are a v. good way of publicising the project. I would also like to have a few! __________________________________________________ |

I have now emailed James at Wowmugs to ask him, as the website doesn't mention these details. __________________________________________________ |

Yes, they have very vivid colours - i have been very surprices when i saw first sample. > I thought there might be some care instructions on a leaflet with the mugs. Are they dishwasher proof? Are they microwave proof? I had a look in my e-mail from August and September when Wowmugs were discussed; can't find answer to dishwashers and mcriowava but i think they are not proof to such behaviour. What design is acutally used? Have a look at cpdn.tuxie... http://cpdn.tuxie.org/honzacholt/T-shirts http://cpdn.tuxie.org/honzacholt/WowMugs_Pilot http://cpdn.tuxie.org/honzacholt/WowMugs_PilotB phpBB forum for CPDN, all are invited |

Here is the email reply from James at Wowmugs to me - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am pleased that the wowmugs are getting a good response! I will be producing some POS for the oxford shop next week. The wowmugs are made using the best possible materials available. You will have no problem in microwaves as the product has been tested for food safety and lip tests. Dishwasher, well yes its a strong coating but I would have to say if you want to keep that coating looking good I would avoid the dishwasher and wash by hand. The reason is not because our coatings are weak but the strong detergents now used in Dishwashers like the powerball etc. actually in time take the decoration from plates and ceramic even though it is baked on at over 1200 deg C. Be aware that sunlight will take away colour from the mug if exposed for long periods. Kind regards james. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My own comment: a few years ago Which? consumer magazine did tests of dishwasher products and concluded that if the dishes were not VERY dirty, you could use only 2/3 the quoted quantity of dishwasher powder and achieve an equally clean wash. Nor do you generally need the highest temp. This solution is better for all dishes, saves money and is better for the environment. __________________________________________________ |

My mugs have finally arrived (despite the usual Post Office delays) The OU shop does a good packing job. Just the thing to brighten up a coffee break..... Andrew CPDNforum |

I just got my CPDN mug (going away present from the CPDN crew - thanks!) --- it's pretty cool. It contained a CPDN pamphlet which I guess the OU shop pops in as a nice bonus/propaganda piece. It was very well packed (fitted styrofoam case -- oh dear is that a poor ecological choice though ;-) and survived the approx. 4000 mile trip from Oxford to Philadelphia just fine. |

Hello, We're currently running a bit low on leaflets (having ordered 6,000 not so very long ago, a lot just went to the British Council who will be sending a cpdn exhibit to embassies around the world), otherwise I'd offer to send you some. For anyone in the UK, a good time to pick some up will be at the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition - 4-7 July at the Royal SOciety in central London. Admission is free and 25 science projects from around the country, including us, will be showing what theyre all about. There will be a web cam and a web version of the interactive bit of the exhibit for those who can't make it. I guess I'd better order a load of new leaflets with the first mug proceeds! I got my mug in today, though I don't drink a lot of hot liquids like coffee or tea, it will be great to see what my parents think of it next time they come to visit. I thought it was packaged well and liked the leaflet too. No problems getting to Indiana. |

Yes, I thought that wowmugs would be in all the shops and everybody would have heard about them before we got ours, but this has not happened and everyone who uses them will get a big surprise. __________________________________________________ |
