The messages say there is a new version of Boinc core client available (4.19). Can I upgrade to this in the middle of a simulation? What do I need to do to ensure that the previous 300 CPU hours of work won't be lost?

Hello Clinewf,
yes, you can.
But the current stable client is <a href="http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php?">4.25</a>, at least for windoze ;)

First I would recomend a backup of the Boinc directory. Just a copy with another name. I never needed it so far, but I heard of others who well...

Then you have to uninstall the old boinc. best doen via your XP software management.

Then install the new Boinc in the same dir as the old one.

Then watch with awe ;)

BTW:
A good manual for Boinc is Paul D. Bucks <a href="http://boinc-doc.net/index.php">BOINC Powered Projects Documentation</a> and his <a href="http://www.boinc-doc.net/_phpMyFAQ/index.php?">FAQ therein</a>.
