I have been running CPDN since January, 2005, on a 900 mHz P3 with Windows 2003 server. I have been running it as a service and it has been doing fine until... My C: drive was 3 gigabytes (all my disk space is on E:) and CPDN apparently filled it up and crashed. I have replaced the 3 gig drive with an 8 gig drive and reloaded Windows. I have copied the BOINC directory from the old drive but cannot get the CPDN to start. Do I need to reinstall CPDN from scratch? If I do, can I get it to pick up the current simulation and finish it or is that one just lost? |

Hi David, You show 2 models that have crashed. These are gone, but will eventually be re-allocted to someone by the server. The failed models also show that you are running BOINC 4.13. I'd suggest that you download 4.25 as follows: Suspend BOINC, Exit BOINC, Download the new BOINC 4.25 from here, uninstall the old version, (add/remove in Control Panel), and run the new version. Then click 'Attach to new project' under the Projects tab. The download is a bit big at over 9Megs, and took me a while on my dialup, but you get there eventually. There's an ugly box to the left, but it works OK. And hadsm 4.10 has a new option in the Graphics: W (for World, I guess), which I really like. There is good documentation for BOINC on Paul D Bucks site here You should also note that you are at the low end of the recommended hardware, and that, like all computer programs, the software is being written to use the latest in hardware; hard disk space, processor speed, graphics capability, operating systems, etc. So you MAY encounter problems, especially with the graphics. Repost if it still doesn't work. Les |
