As you are completely new it might be helpful to start with the basics.

There are two separate elements to running climate prediction under BOINC. The first is BOINC itself, which manages the climate prediction program and any other application you might be running such as SETI. Then there is the project program, to which you attach through BOINC.

When you get the download program this is the BOINC element only. It should install and run like any other Windows program, and it should show in your taskbar as a blue disk containing a yellow B (and in task mananger as boinc_gui if you downloaded the 4.19 version from this site). If that won't work for you, I'd suggest uninstalling it and getting the newer version here and trying that.

The next step is to attach to the project. You will have had an email from the project, and you need to supply the web address and ID code given there by attaching to the project (in version 4.19 that is done from settings in the top line of the BOINC window, in the latest versions from the projects tab). You should get some information in the messages tab and eventually the project should show as running in the work window. If not, what message do you get?

Sounds like you have it working. Assuming it gave you a message from the server that included 'no work available'. That normally indicates the problem is not at your end.
