Message 11233 - Posted: 21 Mar 2005, 11:50:39 UTC

I keep getting an error that hadsom cannot be written on my computer everytime I reach almost 1% done with a workunit. I get the following message in BOINC "climateprediction.net - 2005-03-21 07:04:06 - Unrecoverable error for result 28x6_200125938_1 ( - exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005))"
I can never get past 1% done on any work unit. I have Windows 2000 running on a 1 gig atholon processor with 256 mb memory.

HELP!!

Hi and welcome.

Have a look at <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=2026">this thread</a>

Seems it is a windows problem which doesn't make it easy to give a simple quick fix. Sorry I can't help any further.

I have read this thread and tried the three tests and my computer had no problem running any of them.

Have a look at the thread on the same Windows help page - 'Still got problems with my Athlon...'. There I suggested a solution of last resort, but almost guaranteed to work.

Are you running as a service ?
Do you have admin privilege's?
do you have write privilege's to the boinc folder?

If you do not have write privilege to the folder you will get this error

If you have full privilege's this may not help
but try setting boinc log on to the Local System account

Sorry I was confused when I made my first reply.

Don't know if this is helpful, but search of microsoft for 0xc0000005 turned up this issue with Windows Media Encoder.

I have a GeForce4 MX 420 video card. I am going to go to the site and update the driver and see if that helps.
