I'm unfortunately not able to continue running BOINC but I'd like to finish the current work unit before I uninstall. How do I ensure that BOINC will submit the completed unit and not download a new one?

You can go into your general preferences and set the "leave at least xx GB free" to some value where xx is greater than the size of your hard drive.
