I reinsatlled Boinc 4.19 on my SuSe9.2 machine 5 days ago.
It is having trouble with failed downloads and has no work to do.
Is there a problem at the moment downloading from CPDN? or should I reinstall?

There were server problems from about 09.00 Sunday until 12.00 Tuesday UTC. But some people were unable to run the 4.10 and 4.11 versions of the model under Linux, and <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=2330">4.12 has been released</a> to try and fix that.

I doubt that the problem is in your installation, though you could, I suppose, try the latest development of the client from the Berkeley site if you are the adventurous sort. If you have downloaded WUs since Tolu's post and they have also failed there may not be much more you can do except be patient even longer.

I thought I would keep you up-to-date as I have still not been able to download any work (Nearly a week now).
I see others are having probelms with uploading trikles but my problem is getting work.
I am not sure what you mean about the software versions as I have boinc 4.19 and it has work on this computer before.

Sorry. The version numbers for client and application could almost be designed to be confusing.

My reference to 4.12 was to the hadsm3_4.12 model (workunit) which is the one BOINC downloaded. So that eliminates one possible fix. If it is a BOINC problem you could try the latest development version of BOINC from the Berkeley BOINC website. But my minimal knowledge of Linux suggests that there's something else going on, and I don't recall seeing these errors before. No doubt some helpful soul will know the answer.

For some reason BOINC can't write the files it's trying to download to your disk, John. I doubt if you'd get this particular message if the disk was full (or reached your BOINC limits), but here are of a couple of other ideas off the top of my head.

1) check that the disk isn't corrupt.

2) check permissions to make sure that your BOINC and projects/climateprediction.net directories are writable.
