Hi everyone, Well here we go.. I installed climateprediction a month ago and it worked fine, no problem. It still works fine but I'd like to look at the graphics. I couldn't even remember how to do the ./viz command anymore... I searched the forums and couldn't find the step by step directions I thought somebody had posted.. So could someone help me on that front OR even better would be if somebody could help me figure out how to get the new Viz 2.0 to work since the directions to install and start on written for unix pros.. I downloaded the file; double clicked it in the projects folder (I did NOT type the commands, hoping stuffit would install correctly; was that my first mistake?) I also installed X11. Then I have no clue: Below this message is how to get the program running this is more or less gibberish to me. Since I use a mac and have no clue about X11 and unix commands a step by step approach with commands would be appreciated.. I load/ type the file patch it finds the directory and then when I want to "execute" it with the commands posted on the website it says it can't find the directory.. Thanks for the help, David --------------------------------------------------------------------------- More or less gibberish to me: MAC OS X 10.3 or higher - installation For the MAC it is required that X11 is installed; this can be downloaded for free, although most installations will have this by default (look in the folder /Applications/Utilities/X11.app/Contents/MacOS for the executable X11. Running this will start an xterm). To install the application follow these steps: 1) Download the file below and copy this to the climateprediction.net directory (defined above). It is vital that this is placed in the correct directory before unpacking. 2) Unzip the file with the command: gunzip AdvancedVisualisationMac.tar.gz 3) Unpack the tar file with the command: tar -xvf AdvancedVisualisationMac.tar The Advanced Visualisation can be started by navigating an xterm to the folder 'AdvancedVisualisation_V2' in the ClimatePrediction directory and executing the 'AdvancedVisualisation' file with the command './AdvancedVisualisation'. It may be necessary to change the permission on this file to include 'execute' with the command 'chmod u+x AdvancedVisualisation'. |
