BOINC GUI fails with a "Failed to cleanup the Windows Sockets Interface"

On Windows XP, Service Pack 2

Not sure of the version of BOINC - since therreadme filedoesn't tell me, and BOINC won't run - but I joined only about 1 month ago.

It is not truly a critical problem, but a sign that you (or the computer) is trying to start BOINC when it is already running. See this <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=930">thread</a> for a little more information.
