I recently had my work PC upgraded and moved climate prediction over to my new laptop, but cannot specify the application to use the model from my old PC. Is there any way to force climate prediction to use this model or will everything be lost? |

Have you tried installing BOINC then copy your BOINC folder over from old computer? |

If you just copied the complete BOINC folder, it might need a few registry keys. You can export those like this (from the old PC) : regedit /e boinc1.reg "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\BOINC" regedit /e boinc2.reg "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Console\\BOINC Status" regedit /e boinc3.reg "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Console\\boinc_cli" regedit /e boinc4.reg "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\App Paths\\boinc_gui.exe" regedit /e boinc5.reg "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\UC Berkeley Space Sciences Laboratory" This will create 5 .reg files that you can just double-click inthe windows explorer on the new machine. I'm quite sure that not all keys are really required but it worked for me like this. Make sure that the BOINC directories on old and new machine have the same name and drive letter. When copying those lines, make the web browser screen really wide so it doesn't create line breaks where spaces should be. crap, it ate the backslashes ... I fixed them |

(I don't feel like fixing the backslashes again so I rather make a new entry) The registry keys I used for 4.19, not sure if 4.2x uses exactly the same ones |

Ok I tried to get access to my old machine but its been wiped and no backup was taken. The only thing I have is the files from my old machine. I've looked in the registry for the keys that you mentioned in your email and I have the following infomration: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BOINC" 4 keys Default - not set ClientDir - C:\Program Files\Bionic Client Path - C:\Program Files\BIONIC\bionic_gui.exe WinDir - C:\WINNT\ "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Console\BOINC Status" I have no key for "BIONIC status" "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Console\boinc_cli" I have no key for bionic_cli This new machine is running 10 times faster then my old one so can I not force Bionic to use the original model downloaded, which is hadsm3data_4.04_windows_intelx86.zip and 2mn1_100143893.zip |
