I've added a new machine to my 3 BOINC projects (CPN, Einstein, SETI)and am experiencing now a lot of client errors for CPN and Einstein workunits. BOINC client: 4.25 for windows_intelx86 CPN version: 4.12 Einstein version: 4.79 SETI version: 4.09 Machine: CPU Intel 530J (3.0 GHz), Chipset 925XE, RAID 1, running 7x24h. First error message was "Exit status -2 (0xfffffffe)" for CPN wu. After that Einstein couldn't create process due to lack of system resources. SETI runs continously further without problems. System couldn't be used anymore (lots of lacks of system resources even for file open or file copy operations); had to reboot. stdoutdae extract from time of error (timestamp 08:33:00): 2005-04-24 06:04:16 [Einstein@Home] Restarting result H1_0334.9__0335.1_0.1_T04_Run2_1 using einstein version 4.79 2005-04-24 06:04:16 [SETI@home] Pausing result 26ja05ab.16009.6338.523582.77_0 (removed from memory) 2005-04-24 06:04:17 [SETI@home] Started upload of 26ja05aa.20810.5328.234660.250_1_0 2005-04-24 06:04:23 [SETI@home] Finished upload of 26ja05aa.20810.5328.234660.250_1_0 2005-04-24 06:04:23 [SETI@home] Throughput 62789 bytes/sec 2005-04-24 07:03:22 [---] May run out of work in 2.00 days; requesting more 2005-04-24 07:03:22 [Einstein@Home] Requesting 1.24 seconds of work 2005-04-24 07:03:22 [Einstein@Home] Sending request to scheduler: http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/EinsteinAtHome_cgi/cgi 2005-04-24 07:03:24 [Einstein@Home] Scheduler RPC to http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/EinsteinAtHome_cgi/cgi succeeded 2005-04-24 07:03:24 [Einstein@Home] Pausing result H1_0334.9__0335.0_0.1_T04_Run2_3 (removed from memory) 2005-04-24 07:03:24 [Einstein@Home] Pausing result H1_0334.9__0335.1_0.1_T04_Run2_1 (removed from memory) 2005-04-24 07:03:24 [climateprediction.net] Restarting result 31d5_200163166_1 using hadsm3 version 4.12 2005-04-24 07:03:24 [SETI@home] Restarting result 26ja05ab.16009.6338.523582.77_0 using setiathome version 4.09 2005-04-24 07:03:26 [climateprediction.net] Pausing result 31d5_200163166_1 (removed from memory) 2005-04-24 07:03:26 [SETI@home] Starting result 14ja05aa.3017.1906.679838.126_1 using setiathome version 4.09 2005-04-24 07:03:30 [---] May run out of work in 2.00 days; requesting more 2005-04-24 07:03:30 [SETI@home] Requesting 2773.39 seconds of work 2005-04-24 07:03:30 [SETI@home] Sending request to scheduler: http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 2005-04-24 07:03:31 [SETI@home] Scheduler RPC to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded 2005-04-24 07:03:32 [SETI@home] Started download of 26ja05aa.20810.7026.997154.207 2005-04-24 07:03:39 [SETI@home] Finished download of 26ja05aa.20810.7026.997154.207 2005-04-24 07:03:39 [SETI@home] Throughput 60974 bytes/sec 2005-04-24 08:03:39 [Einstein@Home] Restarting result H1_0334.9__0335.0_0.1_T04_Run2_3 using einstein version 4.79 2005-04-24 08:03:39 [climateprediction.net] Restarting result 31d5_200163166_1 using hadsm3 version 4.12 2005-04-24 08:03:39 [SETI@home] Pausing result 26ja05ab.16009.6338.523582.77_0 (removed from memory) 2005-04-24 08:03:39 [SETI@home] Pausing result 14ja05aa.3017.1906.679838.126_1 (removed from memory) 2005-04-24 08:33:00 [---] Can't open temp state file: client_state_next.xml 2005-04-24 08:33:00 [---] Couldn't write state file: -108 2005-04-24 08:33:01 [climateprediction.net] Unrecoverable error for result 31d5_200163166_1 ( - exit code -2 (0xfffffffe)) Any idea? Are you running Free-AV as your anti virus software? I was and had the same issues. You can check the thread below to read more up on it. http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=2822 |

Yes, I'm running AntiVir from "free-av.com". Thanks for the link to the mentioned thread. It cleared up a lot. On my other (older) P4 machine it all works fine. Only difference is the CPDN version. There I'm still running on CPDN 4.04! Due to the fact that it seems to be a CPDN 4.12 problem I enabled Einstein again on my new machine and it works fine until now (7 hours). I'll keep CPDN stopped on the new machine until bug is fixed because I absolutely do not want to switch to another anti virus software. Thanks again! |
