Hi, I ran both CPDN and Seti. Somewere earlier this year after evidential server problems no more seti-workunits came my way, so I only run my current CPDN-workunit from that time on. I completed this CPDN-workunit today and after uploading the results I have the same problem as with Seti: BOINC failes to download a new workunit! When I perform a manual 'update' I get the message: "cgi succeeded" Does anybody know what is wrong? Or better: what I can do to get a new workunit? Rob |

I finished two units yesterday and had to repeatedly try for one day before getting new work. The message is request succeeded, then no work from project, deferring commmunication for... It would be nice to have a status report on the availability of work units. However, this is not the first time the project has temporarily run out of new work. I guess you just have to be patient. The exact message I received: (sending request to scheduler etc.) "Scheduler RPC to http//climatapps2.oucs.ox.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi succeeded" There is nothing about the project temporarily out of work. As Seti did not send work for the last couple of month(!) I am now not very optimistic about CPDN. ( I am apparently not a real patient person ;-) B.t.w.: I use Boing-Gui 4.19 |

<a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?field=Temperature&resultid=202701&phase=AT#graph">One</a> of your results looks really strange, you should maybe post about it <a href="http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewforum.php?f=8">here</a> . The other one is "Over", has no error but outcome is "Unknown" and there are only 71 trickles. This would be a good topic for posting about it <a href="http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewforum.php?f=4">here</a> maybe. Good luck ! Volker |

Yes, strange indeed (very cold and dry). But I am not an expert on climate science. Only 71 trickles are perhaps still a result of the server-problems a couple of days ago. I shall wait a while, perhaps the last trickle will show up this week. If not, I always can repeat my initial question on how to get (a)new workunit(s). You pointed to the forum at: http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewforum.php?f=4 Well, I am not a computer expert either, so I leave it as it is. However, one of the postings there gave me a hint: Increase the total usable diskspace in the Boinc preferences. Although the original amount so far worked fine I raised that amount considerably. Let hope that new workunit will come. Rob |

Rob As you haven't sent all 72 trickles, it's possible that the scheduler thinks that you are still working on the model. So you may not get a new parameter set until the last trickle shows up. If ever. In which case, you may have to do a reset, which will clear out everything, and let you start again. Before you try this, do another Update just in case. Les |

Nor does the loss of an intermediate trickle normally matter. It might be worth looking in the project directory for any outstanding trickle files, though. If they are there, move them to another folder and try an update again. There is a server fault which occurs when there are a number of queued trickle files waiting - normally 40 or so but it can happen with fewer. > In which case, you may have to do a reset, which will clear out everything, > and let you start again. > Before you try this, do another Update just in case. Though a reset is normally the last resort in CPDN, I don't think there is anything to lose in this case from doing so. |

I am having a similar problem. I have been running 2 CPDN Wu's, one finished and uploaded on saturday. It shows it as being uploaded sucessfuly. I have a 2nd WU still crunching, however CPDN isnt downloading a other WU to replace the one that finished and uploaded on Saturday. Anyone have a clue why this is? Im not worried because I still have 1 WU running, but I want to run 2 WUs like I have been doing since January. |
