Hi All,
I had problem over the weekend when I tried to reattach to the UK server as was disscussed in a prior thread. CPDN tried to download a new WU, when I still had one incomplete in my project file.
What do I have to do to get Boinc to recognize the WU in the project file instead of just giving me a new one. After 40+ hours on that WU, I really don't want to lose it even though 40 hours might now seem like a lot. It is just the loss.

Very Respectfully,

Rocky

The easiest way is from a complete backup of the BOINC folder.

Failing this, you need a copy of the client_state.xml file in the BOINC folder, two folders and a file in the climateprediction.net folder, (1 folder zipped; the file is an xml), and several files and zipped folders in the 'slots' folder pertaining to the old model number.
The client_state.xml file contains model names that BOINC knows about, and where they will be sent when completed: Oxford or Bern.

Hi Les,
Thank you very much for your response. I know I goofed trying to reattach to a different server, but what you offer sounds like a way out. Forgive me but I am relatively new to an awful lot of this. Is there somewhere I can get a breakdown or instructions on how to do what you propose?
I have the following files:
hadsm3_4.10_windows_intelx86.exe 1KB Application File
hadsm3se_4.10_windows_intelx86.exe 1KB zip file
hadsm3um_4.10_windows_intelx86.exe 1KB Zip file
user_logo 1KB File

Ihave nothing in any one of the 3 slots except for 1 empty, 1 with seti info, and 1 with einstien Info.

So apparently I am missing files, so I am probably fighting a losing battle.
Am I seeing something wrong?

Again I thank You In Advance.

Very Respectfully,

Rocky

It looks like you've lost the old model. These things happen all the time, so don't worry too much.
I had it happen to me; once when something went wrong during the night, and once when I made a mistake in learning how to backup to cds.

About the only instructions is advice from other users. There are so many things that can go wrong that this is about the only way.
Just post if you need help, and someone will be along before long.

The four files you mention are just the program files.

You should have a client_state file, but it will contain info on your new model.
It's worth having a look at it, to learn a bit about what's involved. Just open in your browser.
Five of the lines mention your model name, with an underscore followed by a number from 1-5, followed by .zip
These are the names of the 5 zip files that will be uploaded at the end of processing. Just before each of these lines is another, containing the words 'file_upload_handler'. On these lines will be the destination of the upload:
uploader1.atm.ox.ac.uk for Oxford, and
phkup21.unibe.ch for Bern uni in Switzerland.

When things go wrong with a file server just before you finish, it's nice to be able to have a look and see that you'll be using the other server.
Or start worrying if it's headed for the server that's down :(

Les

Les,
Thank you so very much for your time. I guess tonight I download another WU, and start again. I am glad there are people around like you willing to offer a hand.

Again Thanks.

Rocky
