My computer has been trying to upload more work for days, but is unable to. The return message says there is work, but my computer is unable to download because there is not enough memory assigned. The "disk" menu shows zero free BOINC space on both sides, but I can't find anywhere how to get the program unstuck. It also seems that BOINC is taking up 2 Gbytes! Shouldn't it submit and get rid of results that are already processed? If this doesn't get resolved I have a good mind to scrap the whole 3-month run and get rid of BOINC altogether!

This issue has been raised often, sometimes heatly.

<a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=1479"> This</a> thread is one of them, with explanations, and reasons for and against.
There are a few threads where people have gone ballistic about it.

Basicly, 5 data files are uploaded with a 'synopsis' of the model for the scientists to examine, and 330M or so remains on user's HDs containing the full result. It was / is felt that people with a dialup connection would object to uploading such huge amounts of data. I'm one of those with dialup, and would have serious problems with two huge file uploads every 5 weeks. And the alternative wireless broadband connect is expensive.

And the simple answer to BOINC space is to move the folders of completed models outside of the BOINC folder.

What is not mentioned in the above thread is the new Advanced Visualisation for examining completed models, available from the menu to the left of here.
Which also takes up a lot of space in the climateprediction.net folder.

Les
