Hello friends, I had to change the preferences for my workstation. After that I was told to start an update download from my BOINC program. My BOINC versin does not support an user-initiated download in the screoll-down menues. Then, how can I get the newly edited preferences into my BOINC version ? I'm a beiginner to this way of distributed computing. Thanks for help Jochen from Old Germany |

What version of BOINC are you running? In 4.19 you go to the projects tab and right-click on climateprediction.net and choose update. In 4.2x you go to the projects tab, left-click on climateprediction.net, and choose update from the links on the left. |

The newest ones are always here but you have to uninstall 4.19 in order to install a 4.2x (at least that's the official instruction) 4.2x (actually 4.3x now) is a different branch, it will be the base of the future versions but currently not everyone is happy with it. I don't want to talk you out of trying it but be prepared to possibly have some more problems than with 4.19, especially if you use screensaver or graphics. Backing up your 4.19 stuff is sure a good idea. If you're happy with 4.19, you might want to finish the current model first and switch to 4.2x when you received a fresh model that has not trickled yet. |
